I realized about half way through November that I had forgotten to do a blog post for the month. Oh well, that gives me the opportunity to spend a lot of time on this month’s post.
I’ve decided to do a post on a website that I like to use for making hall passes and other fun things. I am also featuring a couple of other ideas I’ve had for using this website. There are many things you can do with this site. It is easy to use for a variety of different purposes.
The website is called Big Huge Labs (https://bighugelabs.com/?msg=You+are+now+signed+in.+Welcome+back%21). It is a site that allows you to use your pictures to make all kinds of products from posters to badges, to puzzles and more. Everything you do on this site is free and when you download them from the website, they are able to then be used as you wish.
When you register with the site (it’s free) you are able to save your pictures that you use to make a variety of things. One little problem is that you have to modify your pictures prior to entering them into the website. As you will see from the samples I include here, I have not done that withe my pictures.
My favorite thing to do with this site is to make a hall pass for students coming to see me. I’m able to put their name, their teacher’s name, the days they come and the time they are scheduled. The students take this item to class and carry it to come and see me. This gives them the ability to come to speech on their own, teaching them responsibility and saving me time on going to get them for speech.
The second use I have for this site is to make a progress report Trading Card. It’s a great way to show parents how much progress a student has made in a given year. You can put anything you want on it, there’s plenty of room for whatever skills you would like to report on. It can be a very rewarding remembrance for you students of what they accomplished during their year with you.
Although there are many different things you can do on this website, I am choosing to only cover three of them. The last one I am featuring is the making your own memes. They are simple, with only a few options, but can be a lot of fun, or encouraging.
This is only a few of the items you can do with this website. It’s easy to use and fun to play with. These are only a few of the ideas I’ve had, but would love to hear what ideas you have on how to use this website for other educational applications.
